It was a weekend of thrilling cards, high-stakes hands, and unforgettable moments at the 2025 World Euchre Championship brought to you by Bicycle Cards. With players from across North America descending on New Glarus, Wisconsin, the Singles and Doubles Tournaments each delivered their own drama—and crowned deserving champions.

Wayne Hamilton of Grapevine, Texas claimed the Singles title on Saturday, finishing with an impressive 102 points in the World Euchre Federation-sanctioned tournament. Originally from Dovray, Minnesota, Hamilton credits his win to years of family Euchre games and a strong rotation of partners throughout the afternoon. “I didn’t see this coming,” he said. “I had eight different partners, and they were all great.” As champion, Hamilton received the tournament’s iconic Bicycle Cards championship belt and a prize package from sponsors including Bicycle Cards, Decatur Dairy, TDS Telecom, New Glarus Brewing Company and Jack Link’s.

On Sunday, the spotlight turned to the Doubles Tournament, where first-time entrants Joseph Ebling and Matthew Morsches of Chicago, Illinois made a surprise run to the top. After finishing second in the preliminaries with 132 points, they advanced to the final table and edged out Darryl and Nathan Hines in a tense 10–7 final game. “I was shaking the entire time I was shuffling,” Ebling admitted. The duo—who first met at Purdue—played it cool in the finals, relying on the chemistry they built back home in Chicago. “We decided to just play like we always do,” said Ebling.

Both championship titles mark a high point in the tournament’s third year. With more than 600 players in attendance, this year’s World Euchre Championship also served as the largest fundraiser yet for New Glarus Cares. Proceeds from the event will go toward building the community’s first public dog park.

Also, congratulations to the winners of the 2025 World Euchre Championship raffle! Taking home the grand prize of $2,000 was Dorene Disch of New Glarus, WI. Bob Beggs of Madison, WI won second place and $1,000. JoAnn Cruse, also of New Glarus, claimed the third-place prize of $500. Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket.

The World Euchre Federation is thrilled to announce plans for the first-ever Junior World Euchre Championship, scheduled for January 2026!

This brand-new tournament will be open to two age divisions—12 to 14 and 15 to 17—and will offer young Euchre players a chance to compete on a national stage, develop their skills, and connect with fellow enthusiasts from across the country.

The game of Euchre has long been a multi-generational pastime, passed down through families and played at kitchen tables for generations. Now, we're giving the next generation of players a spotlight of their own.

The Junior World Euchre Championship is a great opportunity for young players to experience high-level Euchre in a fun, friendly, and supportive environment.

More details will be announced soon, including how to register, format and location, and scholarship or prize opportunities.
